We had a task in an english lesson, and here is my answer :)
I
chose task one and viewpoint task 1 (the task was to write what message this quote meant to deliver)
I
chose the quote; “If you must hold
yourself up to your children as an object lesson, hold yourself up as a warning
and not as an example.” – George Bernard
Shaw
I
think this quote tells us that you shouldn’t try to form your children in your
own picture and let them be just like you. When he says that you should hold
yourself has a warning and not an example I think he means that you should try
to make your children “better” than you, meaning that there is always
imperfections in a person that can be approved. Every parent wants what is best
for their children, showing them their own good sides and concealing what may
not be so positive is a good start.
I like Your interpretation of the quote very much, Mathias :)
